A Long Reading List, Beauty Investments and Wanderlust #LittleLoves 13-18/52

Dear readers, I've not done one of these in a while, five weeks in fact! Jeez, what happened? Apologies. So I've got a bumper version for you. I have tons to catch you up on, so here we go...

So a ton of friends have leant me books lately so my current to read list is Atonement, The Girls by Emma Cline and a Terry Pratchett Novel. Plus I went to Waterstones recently when I was feeling blue, because nothing like spending money on novels to add to the growing pile of unread ones to cheer you up. I did recently read Men Explain Things to Me, which is an excellent collection of essays about mansplaining and other feminist issues. I'm also currently reading Quiet, The Power of Inroverts in a World that Can't Shut Up. Any introvert anywhere should read this, I'm a couple of chapters in and I'm adoring it. I don't like the term empowering, because it's been so overused what does it even mean anymore? But if anything deserves that title, it's this book.
So, like the rest of the world I've been watching Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix. There's a bit of a debate going on about whether it's essential viewing to raise awareness over teenage mental health, or if it's glamourising and promoting suicide and self harm. But, if you ask me, that question gets asked every single time any popular culture references depression or suicide. Personally, I think it's done very well and it comes with essential trigger warnings. If you are the sort of person who has struggled with mental health issues or come face to face with suicide or sexual assault, then I totally understand why this show would be difficult for you to watch. I have lots of thoughts about this show, but I'm planning on writing a separate post about this anyway.

You probably know by now about my Spotify obsession, I find it brilliant for finding new music and lately I've been desperate for quiet, calm music to help me focus. My concentration levels have been appalling lately (more on that later), but I find this playlist pretty soothing

Nothing! Except risotto. I know, in over 4 weeks? Appalling. I've got lots of exciting Girl Gang stuff coming up though, so the creative juices are flowing.

I've had a couple of outfit posts up recently, so hopefully you've seen those. I've been investing in beauty stuff more lately, finally bought myself a Mac lipstick (thank you duty-free) and a new curling iron so I can try out the corkscrew curls I love. I also cut another good few inches of my hair, so I think I can safely say I'm in the lob club. I've got a few review posts I need to get sorted, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
So you've probably seen my Amsterdam posts lately, I've still got a few to come because I'm obsessed with the city. Seriously, the entire time we were there me and Jay kept talking about how we could really see ourselves moving there one day. I've done a lot of European city breaks, and it was the first place I could actually consider moving to. Though I might not say no to Paris either!
I did book another city-break for Christmas pretty much as soon as we got back. So come December we're off to Berlin with a couple of friends! Is it me or does coming back from holiday just make you want to go on more? Since coming back we've had some pretty calm weekends, involving dog-sitting a lot. Harry keeps getting bigger and it's making me sad! But he's still very cute. I managed to catch up my girls over the bank holiday and consumed a few too many cocktails, but they were certainly needed!

Just to let you know, I've got a little health update for you. I posted a pretty lengthy facebook post about it, so I'll just share there here for ease's sake. Apologies for the typos, written very quickly in a somewhat emotional state. But it still just about makes sense!

    1. Hi Martha!!

Firstly, I'd just like to say how much I love this post and your blog from what I've seen so far :) I will definitely be a regular reader. I love how you've layer it out and captioned it, it's so easy to read. I'm the biggest introvert ever so that 'Quiet' book sounds like my cup of tea.

      Thank you,

      Chloe @ https://girllgonerogue.blogspot.co.uk/

    2. I've had Quiet, 'The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Shut Up' on my to read list for a while now and have only heard good things about it. I must order it after the move.
Amsterdam is a beautiful city isn't? I went with friends when I was 17 (a long time ago!) and really want to go back soon.
      Have a good week xx
