The chocolate cake to end all chocolate cakes

Anybody else in a post bake off funk? Yes, I know it ended a few weeks ago and yes I know we at least have the Apprentice now to keep us occupied, but gosh dammit, none of them are Selasi.

In honour of GBBO and the fact there's never going to be another one quite like it *sob* I thought I'd post my favourite ever chocolate cake recipe, from the woman herself, Miss Mary Berry. In fact it's  Mary Berry's very best Chocolate and Orange Cake. Although it's a slight adaptation.

    For the cake:
    100g butter/stork
    50g cocoa powder
    90ml boiling water
    3 large eggs
    4 tbsp milk
    175g self raising flour, sifted
    1 tsp baking powder
    300g caster sugar
Finely grated zest of 1 orange

    For icing and decoration:
    100g butter/stork
    200g icing sugar
    50g cocoa powder
Finely grated zest of 1/2 orange
Half a Terry's Chocolate Orange (yes, eat the other half)

    1. Set the oven to 180ºC/fan160°C/gas 4 and grease 2 cake tins, roughly about 20cm.
    2. Mix the cocoa powder and boiling water to make a paste.
    3. Add all other ingredients to the paste and blend using a handheld mixer or food processor.
    4. Pour into the greased cake tins and put in the oven for about 20-25 minutes until cool.
    5. Remove the cakes from the oven and take out of the tins, leave to cool completely.
    6. To make the butter icing, blend the butter, icing sugar, cocoa powder and orange zest together.
    7. Once the cake is cool use the butter icing to stick the two cakes together and attach the chocolate orange slices on top for decoration.
    8. Slice and eat. Keep it in the fridge until it's completely eaten, which shouldn't take long if you're sensible (aka greedy).
